My weight allows for me to make impressions in the bed, which to me makes the bed feel softer than most reviews are giving credit for. I read the reviews beforehand and knew that when it was unpacked it was upside down so I knew to put it the nubby side down. I had less pain waking up this morning. And moving it around once it is expanded is pretty simple too. Can't wait to get off work so I can go home to my brand new memory foam bed! And both mattresses have a 20 year warranty. We had just moved into a new apartment building and are very clean so we know it could not have been caused by any pre-existing mold in the apartment. On the other hand, if you are a back or stomach sleeper, the Gel Memory Foam bed is firmer than the Hybrid so that you are better supported. I used my earlier mattress (from another brand) for around three years and it never gave me any problem. You could buy a spring mattress for 500$ that breaks down in 7 years and gives you aches and pains, or a 250$ mattress foam that never breaks down with a 20! However, it didn't bother me. But we didn't want to buy online so we set off to EVERY mattress store that we could find in our area. Wait the recommended amount of time before sleeping on the mattress for the first time. I'm 6ft 180lbs and for me I fall asleep and wake up without interruption. If you want more of the memory foam "sinking into" feeling I'd suggest a memory foam mattress pad topper maybe 2-3in deep, but it's not necessary. I did read about the chemical smells when you unpack the mattress, but we didn't experience that. I always had been taught that firm is best - but I guess when you have certain back problems you need a little comfort and this is working for me. It is still as firm as the day that I bought it. The reasons for this aren't pertinent to the review except that about two and a half months ago, we rearranged bedrooms and I began sleeping on the mattress "normally" again. It raised to its full height a full 24 hours later, so don't expect it to reach 10" until at least after a full day. I had to fabricate a 'box frame' out of 2x3's and the bed support slats to push the mattresses up almost flush with the top of the bed frame. You need a quality base that is both sturdy and durable, like the LUCID Latex Hybrid Mattress. For the past month my husband has complained of back pain and has told me that the reason he has been sleeping in the middle of the bed (instead of his side) was due to the large indentation on his side (and here I thought he just wanted to be closer to me! He was able to load it in his midsize car and get it upstairs by himself.
