The Body Light Spa also offers beach side and pool side massages. We were there for a wedding. The grounds at the Barcelo are kept very beautiful, but it's not as lush as the Iberostar. If you call the number, you will connect with the Palace Spa and NOT the Body Light spa. Must be a much better manager at the Coral Grill as the service there was so much better. You never saw anyone sitting in the lobby. The security guy at the entrance to the Barcelo didnt even ask my name or what room I was inhe just wanted to see my wristband which I flashed him from the back seat of the carit was pretty dark he would have hardly been able to see it. The adult pool was quiet and had covered lounge areas for a relaxing read. The second room is what most would refer to as the Master Bedroom and it connects to the first room via a door off of the living room. The resort also features several spacious swimming pools as well as hot tubs, and a children's play area. I did speak with one fellow at the Front Desk later in my stay who was actually friendly and helpful but the rest of them seemed kind of surly.The table service in the main buffet was hit and miss, mostly miss. There are also multiple dives each day for people who come to the resort and already have their scuba certification. Guests will also enjoy the resort's mini-golf course and live nightly entertainment. A magnificent room with a hall/living room and master bedroom, decorated with comfortable and elegant furnishings, which also features beautiful views of the tropical gardens.Maximum room capacity: 5 people (possible combinations: 2 adults and 3 children; 3 adults and 2 children). If you are on a budget lump the kids all into one photo or do a family photo.The food was great but I had two food disappointments which might seem silly to even mention but I was really looking forward to these two itemsespecially the Mexican ice cream. I'm not a big breakfast fan, so I usually ate nachos and churros and something crispy with cinnamon and sugar (located at the kid's food station).In regards to their specialty restaurants, we were allowed to have three experiences at two of their restaurants. We spent most of our time on the Palace side of the resort since this was closest to our rooms and offered the most recent and upgraded amenities of all of the resorts on property. I especially enjoyed Friday's buffetMexican Fiesta. When i called them to tell them they hung up on me until i talked with the manager. We never really were able to figure out which spa was best or which was most preferred by the resort. !I enjoyed reading the various plaques around the resort that told about the Maya culturesee photos attached.The bars all over the property had tea/coffee stations set up throughout the day and evening with light snacks such as fruit, cookies, peanuts, popcorn and olives. Make up mirror in the bathroom was actually high enough for me to use.The potato chips and peanuts in the mini-bar came in handy one night when I hadnt had too much for dinner and returned to the room late at night a little hungry.I am a resort bedroom/bathroom snob so I waited until the Palace was built with the bigger bedrooms before trying the Barcelo property. Beyond the living area is a balcony with an overlook of the gardens, which includes a table for relaxing outdoors and a towel rack for airing out your wet items. I felt like a complete nobody when I checked in. I would not recommend either of these resorts for their beaches (rocky) and the snorkeling was not good. The kids loved it. Get a 3rd floor room then it is safer to leave the screen door open at night.Dont worry about being put in the Oaxaca section (pronounced Wahaca)this is supposed to be the smoking building. This is a well-managed property and one that will remain beautiful for many, many years.Excursions:The property itself is beautiful, but if you ever want to take an excursion off of the property to explore Mayan ruins or a nature park like Xplor or Xel Ha or Xcaret you can easily set one up with either the hotel excursion service inside the Palace lobby or one of the other travel agencies that book travel with Barcelo. If you drink coffee, it's a must to get the flaming Spanish coffee after dinner.The nightly entertainment was good. I suppose the food at Barcelo Caribe is similar to other 3 - 4 star resort food (I don't remember the food at Barcelo being any better or less than at Iberostar Parasio Beach). The Palace resort has converted one of their deluxe oceanview suites into a spa for guests. I am very noise sensitive so this was so great for me as I really needed to re-charge on this holiday and needed some major rest. There was no welcome at the front desk either.
